Delphi
Day 1:
When we arrived to delphi on the 20th of september we were directed to our rooms which were in the hostel. We quickly unpacked our stuff and got ready for our first activity which was surfing. we were given the weatsuits which we changed into at the beach. the instructor then gave us a surf board each. we were told about safety hazards and what to watch out for. He then showed us the technique of surfing. we learned that you must paddle as hard as you can before the wave comes. without delay we got into the water, for the first few minutes everyone was getting used to the water then people started getting comfortable and started surfing. I wasn't great at surfing but i still really enjoyed myself doing it, it was definitely the best activity we did. i found the people there very helpful to those who needed help. After surfing we got back to the hostel where we met the other group who had done high ropes which sounded very scary. we all went down the kitchen and got dinner which was chicken curry. There was another school there at the time so the kitchen was full it took a long time before a seat was free so we could sit down. After dinner we went up to the room and had showers. We then got ready for the evening activity which lasted from 7-9, we just played some team bonding games and played music. we then went back for supper which was cookies. We went back to the rooms and then relaxed there for a while. lights out was at 11 so we had to go to sleep at that time.
Day 2:
The next morning we got up at 8 and went down for breakfast, their was a choice of sausages, beans, toast or cereal. We got our hiking boots and socks ready. We got a bus to the mountain and started the 17km hike. There was many steep parts which was very hard to walk up. We then stopped for lunch half way through for 45 mins. Our legs were aching as we hopped on the bus and went back to the hostel where we got spaghetti bolognese. We then had a shower and got ready to go to the campfire. Here we sang songs and chatted, some toasted marshmellows from 7-9. It was a very enjoyable night, then we went to bed and chatted before falling asleep.
Day 3:
This was our last day. We were woken at 8 again and went down for breakfast. We then got ready for our last activity which was high ropes. We put on our harness and went down to where the high ropes were. There was one called the leap of faith and one where you jumped off a post and tried to hit two balls while in the air. The last one was where 4 people had to stand on a platform and lean back but try not to fall. This was very scary and the platform was constantly trembling and shaking. After we went back to the hostel and got soup and a roll. We then went home around 2 and arrived home at 5. Overall, i enjoyed Delphi and i thought it was a great bonding idea for Transition Years.
